This royal town on the river Moravia is the heart of the Slovácko region, famous for its remarkable folklore and outstanding wine. The archaeological site Sady, where research led to the discovery of vast remnants of a settlement from the era of the Great Moravian Empire, is located on the outskirts of the municipality Sady, at the Výšina sv. Metoděje hillock. At the Sady hillock, archaeologists eventually uncovered the foundations of a stone church from the beginning of the 9th century, laid out in the shape of a Greek cross; there were also workshops, wells and other buildings within the complex.

It is a place that evokes ancient history across the span of centuries. It is probably here that St. Cyril and Methodius were based and here they taught their disciples, as documented by the findings of tablets and slate-pencils (styluses) for engraving the Glagolitic alphabet. The locality served as a burial site up until the 13th century, the grave of a significant lord was found here. It is possible that this is the very site where prince Svatopluk or archbishop Methodius is buried. Other churches and chapels, consecrated to St. Cyril and Methodius, can be found nearby, e.g. in Nedachlebice and Veletiny.
