Church of St. Clement in Holešovice
The oldest preserved sacral building on the territory of Prague 7, as well as one of the oldest Church monuments in Prague is the church of St. Clement in Kostelní street, the former parish church of the Bubny village. Originally it is of Romanesque style, dating probably to the beginning of the 13th century; first mention of it dates back to 1234. Later it underwent a Gothic reconstruction. The church was damaged by fire twice, in the years 1659– 1677 the new owner of the Bubny village, earl Martinic, had the church repaired and refurbished in early Baroque style, some Romanesque and Gothic elements remain. At the end of the 19th century the church of St. Clement, as the parish durch of Holešovice, got a new nave, but due to its small capacity the construction of a new church of St. Anthony of Padua on today’s Strossmayerovo square begun as early as 1908. There is a small cemetery around the church, burials here terminated by 1886.
